A simple, clean, comfortable stay close to 🚄Nagasaki Station.

The tatami smell was soothing, and even though I was in a smoking room, I didn't notice cigarette smoke. The building and facilities show some Showa-era wear, but the place was clean and sanitary, and the friendly, attentive staff made the stay comfortable. My room had a reasonable rate, and if you mainly need somewhere to sleep while keeping costs down, you'll be satisfied for the price. The location is very convenient for both sightseeing and business, close to JR Nagasaki Station and just steps from the tram stop. Restaurants and convenience stores are nearby, which made a late-night check-in easy. Nagasaki Pearl Hotel has plenty of charm and great value. I'd definitely put it on my list of options.

The owner and landlady are kind, and the breakfast is delicious. It works well for a solo traveler. The outdoor unit in the other building made a bit of noise.

This business hotel has a retro Showa-era feel, much like the Nagasaki Ekimae Bus Center. I don't mind that style, but it's quite different from a modern chain, and if you want a sparkling clean room, this probably isn't the right choice. The room rate is reasonable, but they told me the local desk took cash only, so be aware that credit cards apparently aren't accepted there. The small front desk had a homey feel. (I've seen other reviews mentioning PayPal.) Getting there is simple: from Nagasaki Ekimae Bus Center, spot the Orion Hotel on the mountain side, turn right at the corner in front, then walk about 30 seconds. From the JR ticket gate, it's around five minutes across a long pedestrian bridge. There was a shared Japanese-style toilet and washroom in the hallway. My Japanese-style room had a UB and Wi-Fi, and it was hygienic. I had no issues and would definitely book again next time I'm in Nagasaki. I hope they keep up the good work and stay in business!
