Station Hotel Nagasaki Suwa

Free laundry and a foot massage machine were nice extras, and the service was wonderful. It felt like home. Easily one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Japan.

I found a ramen shop open until morning and a jazz bar a short walk north of the hotel, so exploring the local area turned out to be a lot of fun. I'd originally planned to stay out late around Shianbashi Bridge, but couldn't find a restaurant I liked and wasn't sure what to do. I came during the 2026 Lantern Festival, and although the hotel is away from downtown, it's close to a tram stop and you can walk to places like Meganebashi Bridge. Weekend reservations were even possible during the festival, so it feels like a hidden gem. I hadn't expected much for the price, but the new building was very clean and much better than I thought. The front desk is unmanned at some times, though entry and exit are secured, which made it feel safe for women. You can pick up only the amenities you need on the front floor, and the 11:00 checkout let me take my time. I'd happily stay here again.

The free welcome drink and coffee were nice touches. I rated it four out of five. It's handy for the Kunchi festival, and the box seats look beautiful at night when the festival isn't on. It's close enough to pop back to the toilet, too. This is a newer style of hotel where the front desk isn't open in the morning. The rooms were clean for the price, and having things like massage machines was nice.

We slept soundly because it was quiet, and the room was enough for us since we only needed somewhere to sleep. It wasn't spacious, but it was comfortable and very affordable, with free parking. Our car couldn't fit in the multi-story garage, so they directed us to the lot at the back. The front desk staff were kind, and everything was sparkling clean, even the glasses in the room. I was pleased to find a foot massager. Thank you very much.
