The sleeping area had been renovated, and the toilet had a washlet, but much of the room and hotel still looked its age. Some touch-ups elsewhere would have helped. I got sick after the first night and spent the whole second day in bed with diarrhea, muscle pain, and a fever. The hotel knew I was unwell, but didn't offer any accommodation and served me the same food, which made me feel worse. I skipped dinner and breakfast that day. I'm not saying the food or onsen caused my illness, or I'd have rated this one star, but serving a sick person meals with lots of dairy and tofu, which can leave your stomach bloated, felt inconsiderate. We were also charged 660 yen for hot water that tasted like coffee at breakfast. There'd have been no issue if they'd told us first, but they didn't mention the charge or show us a bill. At dinner, they asked us to sign for drinks, while this breakfast charge was just added quietly. We stayed two nights.

A terrace bath gives you a sweeping look over Yuya Bay, and the heated water is rich in natural minerals. It has a thick, beauty-serum feel and is known as a “beauty bath.” There's a sauna in the indoor bath, too. The inn offers open-air hot spring baths in guest rooms, where you can enjoy local sake alongside those bay views. In July 2024, 28 rooms were renovated and four new rooms with hot spring baths were added. The family bath reopened after renovation that September. At the “Umi to Tsuki” sake bar, there are 26 kinds of well-known sake from Yamaguchi Prefecture.

The sea views are lovely, and the service is great. Such a cute little hotel.

The green soba was so good, and everything else came out quickly and tasted great too.
