Otherwise, it was a decent hotel, quiet, and the A/C blew cold. But nearly everything seemed to come with another charge. A towel, something as basic as that, cost 150 yen. A beach chair at a beach resort? Extra. Want to climb onto the inflatable raft? Extra too.

The beachfront location was nice, and there were several restaurants nearby, though they only took cash. The room cleaning came with a 2 liter bottle of water each time. Breakfast was decent, but the menu repeated every other day, so it got old. We paid around 300,000 yen for 10 days at a discounted rate, which felt fair. At the regular price of 800,000 yen, I don't think it would be worth it. It could work well for a weekend trip. The pool was listed as open when we booked the day before, but it was closed. If it rains, there is almost nothing to do at the hotel, so I'm glad we didn't bring kids. The beach is public, and guests still pay 200 yen each time for a towel, even though they can't use the hotel towel. Chairs and umbrellas cost almost 3,000 yen, and the water obstacle course was 3,000 yen for guests, only 500 yen less than the price for visitors from another hotel. We could have stayed somewhere cheaper and walked to the public beach.

The ocean views were amazing, and for what it costs, this hotel is great. My room was clean and covered the basics. It's an older place, so there are clear signs of age, but it was still clean. I'd happily stay again. Keep in mind it's quite far from the airport. The aquarium is about an hour away, though there's a shuttle from the hotel. Highly recommend.

The reception staff were friendly and understanding, and they showed us two other rooms after we complained. One smelled better, but it was still very humid; the other had the same bad smell. The rooms and bathrooms were damp, and the bed linen felt like it would be damp too. There's no complimentary water during the stay, which I think is a basic service for a three-star hotel. The beach isn't private, and hotel guests have to pay for towels, umbrellas, the very old sunbeds, and the “water park.” You can't use the hotel towels at the beach. I give one star for the reception staff and one for the spacious room and ocean view.
