If you want somewhere clean and modern to rest and recharge, with a good location and a larger room, this is a good option in Nagoya. Lawson is right across the street. It's a small boutique-style hotel, mixing a modern feel with a traditional look, and the rooms are bigger than usual for Japan. The bathroom was spacious too, with lots of room to shower and new, modern fittings. Check-in and checkout are self-service. There is no baggage storage, pool, gym, onsen, or restaurant, and hardly any staff on duty.

The rooms were clean and modern, but there was very little service. Our train was badly delayed by weather, and the hotel never answered our replies to its automated emails. We were left outside the front door until the one staff member at the desk eventually let us in. Self check-in felt impersonal. The whole stay felt like being in a hotel run by an AI.

We stayed at Grand Base Osu for the F1 Japan Grand Prix and loved it. Our room and bathroom were spacious and modern for three adults. Staff were very friendly and did their best to communicate, even though none of us spoke the other's language. Google Translate helped. The room had a wall-mounted tablet with instructions in English for the electronics. There's no restaurant since it's a small hotel, but shops and restaurants all around meant that wasn't a problem. I'd recommend it for a Nagoya stop.

The room had no view, which was the one downside, but it was clean and tidy and great value for money. My wife and I stayed with our two kids in a three best room, which was more than adequate. The staff were extremely friendly. Onsu area is right nearby, with shops, restaurants, shopping malls, and the City science museum all within walking distance.
