Hotel Forza Nagoya Sakae

I was really glad I chose Hotel Forza for my first solo trip abroad. I’d carefully researched convenience, including shops, transport and restaurants. When I arrived, the front desk staff were polite and professional, and their gentle, quiet manner quickly eased my anxiety about being abroad alone. Whenever I had questions, they were kind and helpful. Some spoke fantastic English. Others had limited English, but they still made a real effort to communicate, even when my Japanese was limited too. They used Google translate or a speech to text translate device when needed, and I appreciated how they kept trying to meet my needs across the language barrier. I was pleasantly surprised by how patient and welcoming everyone was. My room was sparkling clean, neat and tidy, and the size was perfectly fine for me on my own. There was no weird smell and no rude interaction with staff, despite what I’d seen in other reviews. I didn’t use the TV or breakfast service. The cleaning request system worked like a charm. I asked for my towels change and rubbish to be taken out while I was away all day, and came back to find exactly that. My towels were neatly folded, and none of my possessions were touched, which made me trust the cleaning staff. I have nothing bad to say about this hotel. I plan to come back to Japan in the future, and after my first trip I won’t have to look far when choosing somewhere to stay. Prices seem to fluctuate wildly, though maybe I’m just not great at finding hotel deals. I paid an average of $70-110 USD per day for a four-day stay, without breakfast. I tried the 2,000 yen breakfast buffet and thought it was excellent, elaborate, and had a wide selection. The rooms are decent and the location is great. It was a good stay overall.

Terrible experience. If you stay at this hotel, DONT USE THE WASHING MACHINE. It kept showing an error and never finished the wash cycle. I spent 4 hours fighting with it and ended up with 2 bags of wet clothes that couldn’t be dried at 3am.

The slow elevator was the one real drawback, and we couldn't use either coin laundry because the queues were so long. Otherwise, our seven nights with the family at Hotel Forza were very comfortable. The 20 sqm room felt roomy, with a comfortable bed and a strong shower, and the staff were friendly. Check-in was self-service, and they held my Amazon deliveries until I arrived. The Sakae location made getting around easy. Yabacho is about four minutes away via Matsuzakaya Mall, and Sakae station is roughly a ten-minute walk. There are several malls and plenty of places to eat nearby. The lobby is on the second level, where you can pick up amenities, and coffee and hot chocolate are available around the clock. We got a complimentary glass of wine at check-in too. There’s also a free ice machine, a microwave for guests, and a shared breakfast area that can be used by everyone after 11 am. We were happy with the stay and would consider coming back.
