Hotel MyStays Nagoya - Sakae

We’d booked a non-smoking room, but it stank of cigarettes the moment we walked in. Even the pajamas smelled like smoke. I used loads of air freshener and still couldn’t get rid of it.

The bathroom was the main issue during our four-day stay. Mold showed on the door, shower curtain rings, and ceiling, especially when we were showering. It looked like the bathroom fan wasn’t working, which may have contributed. The room itself was quite small, but it worked for my partner and me. We were glad to get a top-floor room with a nice view, and the location was handy, very close to a Family Mart and several restaurants.

I couldn’t sleep at all. Lying in bed felt incredibly itchy, as if there were thousands of mites. It was a terrible stay, and customers should be warned before booking. I’m never coming back.

We spent about seven days at Hotel MyStays Nagoya Sakae during cherry blossom season, and the staff made sure our stay in Nagoya ended up comfortable and enjoyable. Family Mart is very close, which was handy for affordable breakfast and snacks. Our first room faced north, looking over the pachinko building across the street. The sun heated it through the day, and it stayed hot even with the windows open. The staff were very courteous and lent us a fan, but that didn’t cool things down. With the window open, traffic noise was loud too. I asked to change rooms, and they accommodated us. The new room faced south, away from the sun, and was much cooler and quieter.
