Hotel Prizm

We came back several times because it's near the main bus and train station. With construction detours it took about eight minutes to walk; otherwise, it's directly across from the long-distance bus station, with the train station behind it. Breakfast is simple, just bread and eggs, and coffee and soft drinks are available free all day. On our latest visit, though, they said we had to pay JPY800 to leave our luggage on checkout day, even though we were coming back the following night. They left it in the lobby, tied together with string. This is the only hotel I've encountered that charges for luggage "storage," when the bags were just unattended in the lobby.

I liked the bathtub and the room, despite how small it was. But a small room doesn't need a table with two chairs and such a huge TV. I didn't try breakfast, though I know about the Costa coffee and those shower heads. I've already spent more than 350 nights in hotels around Japan, from Ishigaki to Biei, and nowhere else has charged me to keep luggage after checkout. Here it was 800 yen per room. That's where you lost me. I organize tours in Japan, and I'll never recommend this hotel to anyone. I'm writing in the hope the owner sees this and doesn't send me the same AI response as everyone else.

The room is EXTREMELY small, seriously. There's not even enough space to fully open a suitcase. Still, the pillow was the most comfortable I've ever slept on, and the free breakfast, included with the booking, had sausage, egg and bread. There's also a free drinks lounge, and a counter where you can pick up things like toothbrushes. Check-in is partly self-service, and the service was nice. The entrance is wide enough for wheelchair users to get in comfortably, but the first-floor restroom can't be reached because of some stairs.

The room was the tightest one we'd had in Japan, and two of us had trouble moving around at the same time. We managed, but a little more space would have helped. Breakfast choices were also limited. Still, we enjoyed our stay at Hotel Prizm while in the Nagoya area. The room felt new and modern, the staff were very friendly, and having both a tub and shower was nice for soaking after long days walking around. The main station was nearby, which worked well for us, and the lobby coffee machine made particularly good mochas.
