Meitetsu Inn Nagoya Ekimae

The room was much too cramped for two people, and we were given a smoking room even though we'd requested a non-smoking one. The smoke smell was unbearable. We had to leave the window open, so street and train noise kept us awake all night. Breakfast seemed to have a few options, but we didn't try it because it was already far too busy at 7:30 AM. The location is decent, and the convenience store across the road was useful. They offer a parking ticket for the building next door at 1,000 yen, a 300 yen discount. Times parking behind the hotel costs 300 yen from 6 PM to 8 AM. We wouldn't have picked this hotel outside Golden Week.

The room was clean and well furnished, and the staff were polite. I appreciated the free humidifier loan in winter, and the drink bar was great. They also provided a simple breakfast in the morning. The centralized air conditioning made it hard to sleep and feel comfortable in the room. It's a bit far from main Nagoya station, though Kamejima is still an acceptable option. There was only one drinking restaurant nearby, but enough convenience stores. The table was small, which made it difficult to open luggage in the room.

Breakfast was the highlight for us, with both Japanese and Western food and fresh local vegetables that gave us an energetic start to the day. The rooms felt crowded, with very little space. We had booked two double rooms for three people and thought a twin bed might have suited one person better. We did enjoy the simple soft drink bar on the first floor, open until 12 p.m. It had hot cocoa, coffee, miso soup, tea, and water.

Breakfast had plenty of choices and started early enough that you won't miss an early train. The hotel is close to the station and a mall, with restaurants nearby for dinner. The room was clean and practical, and even the smallest one was easy to move around in and use the equipment.
