Meitetsu Inn Nagoya Sakuradori

It’s a lively area, with beer houses and small eateries around the hotel. The room wasn’t big, but it was well equipped, and the Meitetsu station and malls for shopping and meals were about a six-minute walk away.

The bed made it hard for my wife and me to sleep well. The mattress had sagged in the middle from wear, so we kept rolling toward the center. It’s a double bed with one side right against the wall, leaving little room for the person sleeping there. The room itself is small. Dust covered the air-conditioning grilles, which don’t swing, so air blew straight at your head while sitting or sleeping. The unit was noisy too, and no complimentary water was provided daily.

There are restaurants along the streets downstairs, and the rooms were clean with sufficient facilities. Reception was friendly. The rooms are really small, though: even an opened carry-on blocked the whole passage, and there’s no room to open a butterfly-style suitcase. The hotel is close to Nagoya station, but roadworks and construction can make it confusing to find. The oversized air conditioner blasts cold air at your face, but without it the room heats up quickly. I had trouble getting a good night’s sleep.

The price was very reasonable and included breakfast. The room was just the right size, and service was good. There are lots of restaurant choices nearby, and the hotel is close to Nagura station. You can use the clothes washers and dryers on the fourth floor.
