The room had a tablet to control everything, plus separate brightness knobs for the lights. Curtains blocked the light so well that I could sleep in easily. My only room issues were Wi-Fi disconnecting when I walked around and a smell like second hand smoke one night. I'm not sure why either happened, but neither was a big deal. The staff throughout the hotel were incredibly friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious, the amenities are high quality, and there's lots of free water and toiletries a step above what I usually get at hotels in Japan. They also do turndown service each night. The location isn't right by the main Nagoya station, but a subway entrance and exit are right outside TIAD's front door, making it easy to get around the city and neighboring prefectures. Shopping, restaurants, and a park that runs for several blocks are on the same street. It's a 4* Marriott, so it isn't cheap, but I felt I got a lot for the money. I spent a week in Nagoya and talked with several locals who said TIAD is widely praised by guests. I can see why it's considered one of the best hotels in the city, even though I haven't tried many others there.
