Travelodge Nagoya Sakae

The service was topnotch. My sister dropped her necklace into the narrow gap between the wall and the heavy movable one-piece furniture, and we're very grateful to the hotel staff, especially housekeeping, for helping us get it back. The receptionists and other staff were polite and hospitable. They also stored our trolleys while we went to Takayama for three days, and we got them back when we checked in again. The rooms are bigger than most accommodations in Japan. Toiletries and essentials like coffee and tea were provided, and the sleepwear was a nice bonus. We noticed dust on some surfaces, including the side table, hair dryer stand, and mini fridge. Cleaning is offered only once for stays of four nights or more. The location was okay, in a quiet part of downtown with restaurants, malls, clubs, and other places within a kilometer. The nearest subway stations are walkable, but farther than I'd like. Worth the stay. Thank you so much!

I thought the value for money was quite good. The place is modern, very clean, and comfortable, though space is a bit tight. There's some limited gym equipment and a laundry room. Coffee, tea, sugar, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, pyjamas, and slippers are supplied on the ground floor by the entrance. The service gave me nothing to complain about, but I didn't get a warm welcome. Breakfast didn't meet my expectations and felt very limited for my taste, though it may suit someone else. I also didn't like that there was no room service, even though we stayed only 2 nights.

The room was surprisingly quiet despite the hotel being one street from a lively drinking and clubbing district. It was compact, as standard Japanese rooms tend to be, but clean, functional, and well-maintained. Our stay at Travelodge Nagoya was generally pleasant, and it's roughly a 10-minute walk to Oasis 21 for shopping and attractions. Travelers with heavy luggage should be prepared for some walking. The nearest train station is about 10 minutes away, and the airport limousine bus stop is also about a 10-minute walk, near the station exit. Many station exits in the area lack elevators, so hauling bags up the stairs can be challenging and even a bit daunting, especially with children or large suitcases. A comfortable, quiet spot in a lively area, best for people packing light or ready to walk with their luggage.

The staff were excellent, professional, accommodating, and able to communicate well in English. The nearest train station is about an 8-10 minute walk, which is reasonably convenient. The policies around housekeeping and supplies made the price feel unfair. There's no bottled water, and standard room cleaning isn't included, even for a three-night stay. Fresh towels and pajamas are available on request, but guests have to carry used ones to the front desk to exchange them. That means riding shared elevators with dirty items and making an extra trip before a tour or after returning tired. Neither is reasonable. Staff should collect and replace used towels and pajamas; this policy is poorly thought out from a service perspective. The price paid didn't match the value received. Finding out later about the hotel's promotions made the original payment feel significantly overpriced and unfair. It's even more expensive than 4-star hotels. This is not value-for-money.
