Hotel Wave

March 2022. I stayed alone, and all the rooms are non-smoking. The spacious room felt like a studio apartment, and the bathroom was roomy enough to relax in. The air conditioning temperature was adjustable, and the TV was placed so I could watch while lying down. Towels and toothbrushes were on the desk, so remember to take them along when you go to bathe. The hotel was comfortable and well soundproofed, but it's right in the middle of the red-light district. On the way there, people at the free information desk kept accosting me. There are soaplands next door and across the street. From outside, it's obvious the building used to be a love hotel. I didn't see anyone at the front desk when checking in or out. I called to say I was checking in, and when leaving was told to leave the key in the room, perhaps because I'd prepaid. Around 8 AM on Saturday, Wi-Fi was fairly fast: 56.3 Mbps download and 213.8 Mbps upload. One thing made me uneasy: there were two unnecessary power strips by the bed. I wondered if they could be listening devices, though that's just my imagination. Maybe that thought came from it being a former love hotel. I unplugged them while I was in the room.

The owner was friendly and kind, and I really appreciated the pleasant stay, especially in these tough economic times. Because of COVID-19 I couldn't get back to my hometown much this year, so I used this place during a business trip. It seemed they wash and dry their own sheets and towels to keep costs down, which makes the place good value. The cleaning was thorough, and I had no complaints. The coin laundry and dryers are free, too.

I spent a month here before my transfer and found it very comfortable. The room and bathroom were spacious. For single living, it was convenient to have a microwave, plus a washer and dryer on a separate floor, though those came with a fee. There was also a Steak 88 main store and a 24-hour supermarket nearby.

The sheets were dirty and full of holes, and the tissues had a musty smell, maybe because of how the amenities are stored. The bath towels sometimes smelled strange, too.
