We had a blast, and the room was clean, roomy, and really comfortable. Our large room had two full beds, three twin beds, a sectional couch, a full kitchen, and a full bath. It’s up the stairs from the restaurant. We reserved dinner for 1700, and the food was great and filling. The staff were amazing. They have a translator, though Google Translate is recommended for the finer details. A few things to know: there’s no parking, but four lots are within a four-minute walk and cost ¥1000 for overnight parking. We brought backpacks because you have to walk down a main street with your luggage, and backpacks made it easier to get around. You need to show ID or a passport at check-in. There’s no checkout process, you just tell them when you plan to leave the next day and go. We kept the prison PJs on overnight, which made for plenty of photo opportunities. Such a unique experience, and we were so happy we did it. Highly recommend.

For a date night that’s a little different, this was a really fun pick. We booked a few weeks ahead for 5 pm. Entry cost ¥1000 per person, covering pictures, props, clothing, and the experience. The staff welcomed us and showed us our seats. Once we’d put our things down, it all started: we were handcuffed, walked over to get dressed, and chose prison outfits, either orange or pinstripe. We took lineup photos, then some random jail shots and silly prop pictures. The menu is limited, but everything looked good. After the photos, we ordered steak bites and our friend got pancakes. We all thought the food was very good and plentiful, especially since it’s cooked fresh after you finish taking pictures. We paid over ¥5000 altogether, but it was totally worth it. We had a blast and can tick this off our Okinawa bucket list.

If you go to Okinawa, go here. My Marine family is stationed there, and we had a blast. My granddaughter arrived in a grouchy mood, but five minutes into the start of our fantastic few hours, she was smiling. The food and fun were great, and the two ladies running the prison were a hoot. If I ever go to prison, I want to be sent here 🤣💜💜
