The water was incredible. My body aches disappeared, and I slept deeply. Even with plenty of other guests around, the room stayed quiet and comfortable. The place was spotless, and the staff were friendly and professional. Food was delicious and healthy, and after dinner we roasted marshmallows with complimentary amazake and red perilla juice. I've stayed at several Ryokans in Japan, and this is my favorite by far. The price was very affordable, so I can bring friends next time. Can't wait to return to this little gem in the Tochigi countryside.

I came on my own for one night, and the value for this level of service left me very satisfied. Getting here from Karasuyama Station took some effort on my small bicycle, though the place is easy enough to reach by car. It's also fairly close to Utsunomiya, so overall it's convenient. Despite that, the views from my room, the dining area and the baths were spectacular, and the atmosphere was so peaceful. At arrival they helped with my luggage, explained everything carefully, and offered yuzu baths and steamed buns. Around the hearth there were marshmallows, coffee and juice, while the lounge had ice cream and detox water. The facilities stayed comfortable even in winter. After dinner I could sit by the wood fire, and the little town-like corridors, as seen in other guests' photos, were quaint and intriguing. The alkaline spring wasn't especially slimy. It felt fresh and smooth, and my skin felt refreshed after bathing. Since the bath looks out over the riverbed, I could soak in the warmth, enjoy the open view and feel the cool air. The meals were more than satisfying. The rice had been presented to the Emperor, and the seafood included many high-quality local fish. There was also wild boar and homemade local food. Food matters as much to me as the hot springs, so I was impressed. Traveling alone, I especially appreciated how kind the staff were. This was excellent service for the price, and I'd definitely like to come back.
