I really liked the faint smell of wood and the comfortable lounge. The building's old Edo style woodwork is beautifully combined with a modern style. There's a cafe, workspace, and guesthouse together, with a fascinating history. Ask the owner about the store's past. The room has only four beds, so there aren't many people to make noise. It has air conditioning, and I was lucky enough to get a lovely 400 Y breakfast. The host was fantastic and the property is relatively close to the station, in the old Edo style part of the post town. It's great value. A few things could be better: an extra curtain at the end of each bunk would give more privacy, and some shelves or storage would help. The bed was comfortable, but there was nowhere to put my things, so when charging a device it had to sit on the bed. There are no safes in the house.
