Hotel Windsor

We stayed with our children because Nakatsugawa was our destination, and were very satisfied. For the price, it's a good value if you can get two meals included. They offer a kids' dinner, so there's no need to worry about whether the children will eat. Breakfast is buffet style with a limited selection, like at a business hotel, but you can pick what you like. The room was ordinary, neither good nor bad, which is part of the appeal if you don't want to fuss over your accommodation. Since it's a golf course, the facilities are clean. In the morning, the many men and women there to play golf make it feel a little out of place, but that's not what we were looking for anyway. It's a good choice if you don't want to spend much on a place to stay. Just be aware that getting there means a fair bit of driving on mountain roads.

It's quite far from Nagoya Airport, but a nice place to play golf and relax. The restaurant food is delicious.

The kids' room made us especially happy. It was huge, with a ball pit, slide, and L-shaped sofa. The hotel itself was quiet and set within a golf course. Our stay, including dinner and breakfast, cost less than half as much as other hotels and inns at the same time. There seemed to be lots of Korean tourists, judging by how much of the signage and menus were written in Korean. Many staff members were foreign. I saw some sitting and chatting in the restaurant, and the reception staff were sometimes a little hard to understand, but everyone was smiling and polite. Seeing them work so freely made me wonder whether Japanese hotel service is excessive. The food and public bath were fine, with nothing in particular to complain about. If you don't expect a high-end stay, this seems like very good value.

The dinner was better than I expected, and I had plenty of room to unwind in the spacious room. Everything was very clean, even though the building and facilities felt old. The staff were polite and attentive. It was funny seeing them get noticeably friendlier as soon as they spoke with the regular golfers. Breakfast was fine, though a little more variety or substance would have made me happier.
