We didn’t camp here, but there are lots of cute little cabins for rent. The picnic area and bathrooms were both very clean and neat. The steep drive up was a wild, fun ride, and the view made it worth the climb.

This free park has restrooms, water fountains, and playground equipment for kids, so it’s an attraction worth seeing. If you’re into photography, there are nature and scenery subjects to capture.

A lovely lookout over Kouri island and the beautiful sea, as long as it isn’t cloudy.

The park has bungalows and a campsite, plus an athletics area with a few pieces of playground equipment, including swings and a slide. There are no shops or vending machines. Firewood at the management building is quite cheap, with a decent amount for just 300 yen. The views are amazing, taking in Nago Bay, Haneji Inland Sea, Kouri Island, Cape Hedo, Izena Island, and Iheya Island. You can watch sunsets and sunrises, and during rainy season, fireflies may appear after the rain stops. Bring a flashlight, since the outdoor lights are kept off so people can enjoy the starry sky. Because this park is in the mountains, expect insects and reptiles, including many kinds of cockroaches, fang-nosed bugs, caterpillars, and snakes. There are lots of mosquitoes, so mosquito coils and repellent spray are essential. Geckos are common in the guest rooms too, and droppings may be on the floor even after cleaning. The trees are protected forest, so use the designated areas for fireworks or bonfires, and follow the rules with a fire pit or bonfire sheet.

It’s a long way up into the mountains, and I wasn’t sure my small car would manage it, but the climb was worth it. The view from the observation deck, with its TV and other broadcasting tower, is amazing.
