Yuinchi Hotel Nanjo

The buffet meals were excellent, with plenty of variety and good quality, and felt worth the price. Our room was very clean and had a nice patio where we could relax in summer. The water views were outstanding, with both the sunrise and the lights at night in sight. The location and setting were beautiful, and the staff were welcoming and attentive from check-in through departure.

The views over southern Okinawa are hard to beat, and renting a car makes it easy to get to other places. There are also lots of good Izakayas nearby. I think an open-air bath would make the onsen experience here even better.

For an affordable stay, this is a nice way to try a Japanese-style hot spring bath. The hotel is a little old, but that gives it some charm, and the hillside hot spring has an amazing view. Six of us stayed overnight, used the bath house, and had the breakfast buffet. It was well worth the money. I’d recommend a visit, especially if you’re traveling on a budget and want to experience something distinctively Japanese.

The quiet location was just what we wanted, with nothing around to distract us. But our so-called Seaview room had an odd shape, and we could only see the sea when we stepped onto the small balcony. The hotel photos looked quite different, so I arrived with the wrong expectations. The rooms are basic, with few amenities. I was annoyed by the lack of international TV channels, no closet, and just a tiny space to hang clothes. We basically had to live out of a suitcase. The hotel has one onsen, which was interesting because of its rust-brown, mineral-rich water, but the facilities felt dated and uncomfortable. The gym was disappointing and under-equipped for a hotel this size. I gave up trying to use the pool because of the confusing Japanese rules and swimming times. Given the location, a rental car is a good idea, but the advertised e-bikes seemed out of order, and the ones we tried to rent through an app at the townhall had no battery. There are plenty of buses from the townhall bus terminal, so we ended up using local buses for sightseeing. Would I come back? Probably not. Would I recommend it? For one night with a rental car, it’s okay.
