Akayu Onsen Masugataya Ryokan

The hot spa was really good.

We picked this inn while travelling with our dog to see the cherry blossoms. Eboshiyama Park was lovely, but the stay itself impressed us even more. It's an older place, though everything was clean and bright, and the staff were kind and polite. Our meals were served in a private room, so our dog could be with us. The Yonezawa beef was tender and delicious, and the menu felt thoughtfully put together. Even the prosciutto went nicely with wine. The bath isn't big, but the hot spring water flows continuously. There were so many kinds of shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and face wash to choose from that it was almost hard to decide. We'd definitely like to come back.

I've stayed here before and already had a good impression of the inn. This time, the price hike support plan let me enjoy the hot springs at a bargain rate, and they even upgraded me from the 6-tatami room I was meant to have to a larger one. I appreciate that they accept solo guests, too. The baths use source water without added water or heating, with mineral deposits floating in it. It was a comfortable temperature for me, since I like hotter baths, and I could soak for a long time. I imagine it would be especially nice to relax after bathing in warmer weather. For the low price, dinner included Yonezawa beef grilled on a teppan. The meal was somewhere between inn cooking and home cooking. The breakfast buffet was small but satisfying.

The bath was a real highlight, with source water and mineral deposits, and no heating or added water. The room is a little dated, but I didn't find it inconvenient. Dinner and breakfast were included for the price, which felt like a good deal. The food was tasty, especially the breakfast buffet, which had a nice homemade feel.
