The neighbourhood is very quiet, and the sunrise was THE BEST ever. The owners were lovely, friendly, and welcoming. If you want self-catering accommodation on Naoshima island, this is the place to stay. It’s right by the bus stop, so it’s easy to get to Miyanoura port and Tsutsuji for the Benesse art house and galleries.

The host spotted us walking up and let us in, then came back a little later to check if we needed anything once we’d got our bearings. The rental unit was very comfortable and maybe 100 steps from one of the island bus stops.

Having free bikes available was a huge plus. I felt like a local, but the 4 pm check-in seemed quite late. In winter, the area by the kitchen and bathroom gets very cold because there’s no heater there. We still slept quite comfortably in the bedroom, which had nice beds.

We really enjoyed our room. It was roomy, clean, and comfortable, with 70s decor. The kitchen facilities were excellent, and the owner was lovely and caring.

We really enjoyed staying here over the Setouchi triennale. The house was quiet and cozy, and well equipped and functional.
