Mikasa Ryokan

When you’re in Nara, Mikasa is a wonderful place to stay. The room, views, service, food, people, and onsen were all great. Love you, Mikasa.

The location was wonderful, and we enjoyed a night walk among the deer with a view of Nara. Dinner and breakfast were incredible, though some of the food might be challenging for Western palates.

Our honeymoon at MIKASA RYOKAN was the best, and it exceeded what we expected. We booked a room with a private Onsen and a private dining room for both breakfast and dinner. The food was amazing, and the staff were so friendly. We wanted to make dinner after a day trip, but got back late and found a long taxi line at the station. When I called to ask how best to get there in time, they came and picked us up. The drive up the unlit hills is dangerous, so we’re forever grateful for that staff member going above and beyond. It was a lovely way to experience traditional Japanese hospitality, food, and culture. We hope to return. Thank you for taking care of us🥹🥰

The room was spacious, and we liked the traditional Japanese sleeping setup. The food was good, and the service was kind, as you’d expect in Japan. We stayed just one night, though getting there late meant taking a taxi since the hotel isn’t walkable, even though it offers a shuttle. The interior felt a bit stuck in the 60s. The corridor on the bottom floor had stained carpet, unlike the newer carpet upstairs. Also, the men’s onsen was closed for cleaning when we checked out at 10:30 AM, so we couldn’t use it. I wish we’d known the day before.
