Nara Washington Hotel Plaza

The location worked really well, close to JR Nara Station and a short walk from Higashimuki and Nara Kintetsu. Rooms were comfortable, though small by western standards, which didn't bother me. During my stay, the air conditioning and fridge both stopped working, but staff replaced them promptly on a cleaning day. Everyone was very friendly and ready to help when something went wrong.

I was there on 10/15, and around 3:30 an employee shouted at me and said he didn't like foreigners. I had to prove I was a customer. It was a terrible experience, and I found him racist and rude. Unfortunately, it seems hardly anyone goes here apart from the people already there. The room conditions speak for themselves if you check the comments. The staff need to be changed, especially the ones who lack education and empathy toward people who don't know Japanese. Foreigners, don't go to this hotel.

We cancelled our booking and went to another hotel after what happened in the lobby. I had gone to the restroom while my boyfriend was at a nearby convenience store, and a man wearing glasses came up and yelled at me to leave and not stay at his hotel. We'd only just arrived, and I hadn't caused any trouble. I couldn't understand why he was shouting, and after my boyfriend returned he explained what the man had said. It made me think it might have been because of my skin colour. I was surprised to encounter this in Japan. Even the 🇺🇸 is better than this. It happened a month ago, and I strongly wouldn't recommend staying here.

The rooms were clean but really small, and they only supplied a few toiletries. Breakfast was decent. The location was the main draw, with a short walk to both the historic district and the station. I'd stay here again for that convenience.
