Marroad International Hotel Narita

There was a lovely view out the window, and the room was cozy and clean. The blackout doors helped block the airport noise, though you can still hear the planes a little, and it wasn't bad at all. A free shuttle brings you from the airport to the hotel. Complimentary kimonos and house slippers made arriving in Japan feel extra special. A great place to stay after flying into NRT.

The breakfast had Japanese, American, and Chinese choices, and it was nice to sample a bit of everything. You can get to the airport in about five minutes by taxi, and the front desk can arrange one. Using the facilities costs extra. I liked the stick-on carpet squares, since a dirty one can just be replaced. The hotel was fine in some ways, but I had several concerns. If you're in a hurry to get to the mall, ask the front desk about the shuttle timing. We were told it was a 10-minute ride, but it first stops at crowne hotel, turns around, then goes to the mall. It took 30-35 minutes. The return took 55 minutes after stops at the JR train station, crowne hotel, and marroad. The bus was packed and about 85 degrees Fahrenheit, so taking a taxi and paying a little extra would save you from that hot ride. Our room was hot because the AC wasn't working, and I had to call the front desk. Opening the window is an option, but there's a lot of street noise. Cleaning was generally good, though there were black mold spots in several bathroom grout areas, which could be a problem for lungs and allergies. The onsen was okay, but I'd have liked it cleaner. There was a sharp edge that seemed like a piece might have broken off, and the grout was dark green-black against white. Some of the upper sitting areas had been caulked white. The sauna was great, and the cold water helped.

The building's architecture and interior design looked old. I was lucky to find a discounted room through an app, and it was large, bigger than one I'd had at an international luxury hotel elsewhere in Japan. They also run a free shuttle to and from the airport. At terminal 2, pickup is at bus stop 27. I believe terminal 1 pickup is at bus stop 16.

The hotel is clean and spacious, and the rooms are big too. It's comfortable and well located for the airport, with shuttles in both directions. The lobby has a convenience store, which is handy, and the front desk staff were very friendly and helped with all our requests. There's a pool and sauna for a small extra charge. Food was okay, though for the price I think it should be better. We had a great experience overall, and I'd recommend it to families and couples.
