Narita Hotel Kakureya

The wallpaper looks like eyes! 👁👄👁 Booking in English was easy, and the bath is nice. Just be careful with the shower, it can leave the bathroom floor really wet. Ignore the other reviews about space. Unless you belong on my 500lb life, there’s definitely enough room. The English is good!

Breakfast was delicious, though it’s just bread with coffee or tea. The beds were very soft, the shower had plenty of hot water, and there was a huge wooden tub in the fresh air, just inside and outside our suite. Everything was super clean. My wife, our teenage son, and I stayed three days at Hotel Kakurega, Narita, this March. The staff kindly let us use their kimono collection for our own photos in the room, lobby, and on the front steps. That was a big part of my wife’s plans. The hotel is within walking distance of either the JR or Keisei stations, as well as temples and the Aeon Mall. We only had carry-ons, since larger luggage might be awkward. A tip: “2nd Street” is a second-hand shop about a kilometer away with a huge selection of bargains. If you’re tired of walking, there’s a bus stop at the Aeon mall that goes back to the train station.

The staff were awesome, and affordable family rooms made the stay enjoyable. It’s a quick walk to the Narita station, so it worked well as a base for daily sightseeing with our rail pass. One warning: taking a taxi from Narita Airport took forever and cost plenty.

There’s enough room for a family of four, two adults and two children, and the bathroom is clean and modern with a tub. The staff were friendly too. It’s a really nice, quaint hotel, though a bit out of the way. You can hear a train passing, but it isn’t too loud.
