Canari

We brought our own wine. The room was clean, and having a kettle and refrigerator made the stay comfortable. Since the bath wasn't crowded, the setup worked fine, though I was a little disappointed that it wasn't a hot spring in Nasu, hence the four stars. Dinner was a delicious casual course, and I enjoyed everything through dessert and the last coffee. Breakfast was good too, including the juice and bread.

The women on staff were polite and helpful, and their service was excellent. I'd definitely come back. Breakfast was delicious, with fresh vegetables, egg dishes, and freshly baked bread you could get refills of. I was especially looking forward to the private open-air bath, and it turned out much larger and more open than I'd expected. The other rock baths were private too, so I could relax in those as well. Dinner was a beautiful course and tasted great. They picked a wine that went perfectly with the food, and I had a really good time, though I ended up drinking a little too much.

It was so quiet there, and the dinner was delicious. The French course went beautifully with wine, while breakfast felt like an American-style meal. The freshly baked bread was hearty and tasty, and you could have more. lol After decades away, I visited Nasu for the first time because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The place felt more like a pension than a hotel, apparently run by a married couple. The receptionist, who I think was the wife, was very friendly. Our room had a retro look, but the humidity and moldy smell stood out. There were indoor and outdoor baths; the outdoor one was roomy, but I was uneasy about bugs, so I reserved the indoor bath for private use right away. You could bathe 24 hours a day as long as the bath was open. The pension is surrounded by trees, which could bother people who don't like bugs. I absolutely hate them myself, lol, so I'd avoid visiting in summer.

Unexpected guests appeared outside during breakfast, stirring up quite a commotion among the other guests and staff. The staff said they'd never seen anything like it before. This was my first stay here, and it was quiet since there were no small children with us. The room had a domestic-style air conditioner, which was great because I could set the temperature exactly how I wanted. Dinner was casual French food and breakfast was American-style, both delicious, and the table manners weren't strict.
