The homemade frittata at breakfast was so delicious that I still remember it. I think it was my first time trying one. The place is run by a lovely, hardworking couple, and its cute style really suited me. I was excited the whole time. I made a last-minute decision to visit Nasu in December and stayed at this pension instead of my usual place. There were snow flurries outside, but the stoves kept the building warm and eased my travel fatigue. When I apologized because my baby had soiled a cushion, they just laughed and said it was okay. I could see how much care they’d put into the furniture and interior, so I felt bad, but their kindness made all the difference. They were kind right to the end. I’d love to stay here again.

The owner couple were very kind (^^), and I was very satisfied. The place was clean, the breakfast was delicious, and the bathroom was spacious and clean. I stayed in late August 2025, for about 7,000 yen per adult per night with breakfast only. I’d like to stay again if I get the chance!

I liked the calm, gentle feel of this place. It’s in a corner of the pension village and is said to be the oldest there, but it’s been beautifully maintained, with a stylish exterior. The rooms are cared for too, and were warm and relaxing even though it was cold outside. My room had a glass-walled jacuzzi bath with a view of nature. I was told there’s another indoor bath as well. The one disappointment for me was not being able to get black coffee without sugar. Maybe that just didn’t suit a rugged guy traveling alone (lol). Still, it was quiet, the entrance was charming, and the fresh highland light and air in the morning were lovely. The owners’ kindness seemed to be reflected in the atmosphere. I booked at the last minute before the long weekend because there was a room available. For one person with breakfast, 11,500 yen felt a little expensive if you’re after a hot spring inn, though for a pension during the season it seemed reasonable. I spent the evening in the main hall, which stays open until 11pm, helping myself to coffee, cafe au lait, tea and other drinks while reading or browsing with the Wi-Fi. The amenities were sufficient, but bring pajamas and, if you’re a man, a razor. The food was delicious and lovely, with the same kindness as the owners, and they offer wines in the evening. It seems popular with women, though all the other guests that day were women. The entrance to Pension Village was difficult to find at night, and my car navigation got me lost, but Google Maps will guide you correctly. Smoking is allowed outside. I think it would suit families with children, women traveling alone and couples who like kindness and cute surroundings.

We booked through Jalan. The couple, who love cycling, treated us very kindly, and there was Wi-Fi. The children enjoyed the few toys and stuffed animals. The larger bath was bright and nice, while the smaller one was average. Thank you.

The pension has the owners’ stylish touches throughout, and being inside feels a bit like stepping into an old building from another country. It’s a great place for people who like insects. In summer, insects such as stag beetles come to the entrance, and it seems some guests stay specifically hoping to see stag beetles.
