Hotel Futabatei

The room was calm and comfortable, and I enjoyed breakfast too. One nice thing was being able to take my shoes off and walk around without slippers. I stayed here at the end of the year.

Parking my motorcycle in the garage was useful while touring, but the rest of the stay was awful. I could hear a running noise even on the top floor, which made sleep difficult. The restaurant was closed on the weekend, too. The women's bath had no heating, face soap, or cotton pads. I felt sorry for pregnant women staying there. I ended up washing my face with body soap, and the shampoo left my hair really squeaky. Given the location, maybe the place is aimed at male business owners, but it goes too far. Women shouldn't stay here.

The tub still had dirt floating in it when I took the first bath the next day. There was a lot of it, and the circulation system seemed weak or not cleaned. I also kept noticing a cigarette smell around the pillow in my non-smoking room. With a smoking room next to the communal bath, the bathroom would suddenly smell of smoke as well. It seemed like there might be a problem with the exhaust or air conditioning installation. The place looked clean at a glance, but unfortunately that was only the surface.

I found the place quiet and comfortable during my work stay in the area. The room was simple and relaxing, with a TV, refrigerator, hair dryer, kettle, toilet, and shower. There's also a large public bath. The washing machine and dryer are free to use, though detergent is available for purchase at the counter or you can bring your own.
