Guest House Nemuroman

The kitchen and lounge made this guesthouse especially welcoming after a longer stretch of travel, and everything was clean and worked beautifully during my two-night stay. Michael, who’s from the US, is bilingual and knows the area well. It’s an excellent place to stay in the outpost town of Nemuro. When I ran into a mechanical problem with my bicycle today, he spent a lot of time helping me figure it out. He offered concert support, ideas, and reassuring words. If you’re visiting the area, don’t hesitate to stay here. They’ll do everything within their power to help.

The lobby collection has an interesting local feel. The housekeepers are kind and generous, and the place feels like home.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and spoke English. This guesthouse is right in the heart of town, near the main post office, supermarket, and restaurants. The train station is walkable, though with luggage you may want to take a taxi. There are three dorms upstairs and Japanese-style rooms on the first floor, plus a comfortable shared area and kitchen. It has two showers and two toilets, and parking is available.

Aiko is a lovely host, and the breakfast was absolutely delicious. You can tell a lot of care has gone into the guesthouse. Everything is thought through and has multilingual labels, even the excellent charcoal shower gels. I fully recommend staying here. I’d also strongly recommend renting an ebike at Tokiwa Inn and riding to Cape Nosappu, about 1.5 hours each way. There are wild deer and beautiful scenery.
