It felt like stepping into an anime or a movie, just an amazing experience. I was waiting for a yok. Eye to pop out of the mountain. A relaxing soak led into a hot sauna, and then there was wonderful food, including anko soup. Tucked away in the mountains, this place works great for a romantic escape or a family trip. Ten out of ten, definitely recommend.

I came for the day. The spacious bath connects to outdoor baths, and there's a roomy sauna too. Everything was modern and clean. The spring water is entirely natural and isn't circulated. It had very little smell and tasted a bit bland. Everything was excellent apart from the water's density.

I spent one night here before heading out for the Oxfam trails. It was clean and had the feel of a traditional Japanese hotel, with a clean onsen open from 4am until 1am. For one night without breakfast, though, I thought the price was on the high side.

It was a little crowded since day visitors can use the ryokan too. The outdoor bath, or open-air bath, is beautiful, and they provide the basics like shampoo and body soap as well as hair tonic, liquid, aftershave, and face wash. Day bathing costs 1000 yen, which is a bit steep, but I thought it was worth it. I'd heard a lot about this place and finally got to visit today. A lovely ryokan, probably one of the best in the Date onsen area.

You get a lot for the price at this buffet. The karaage may honestly be the best I've had in japan. There was takoyaki, soba, gratin, beef, fries, ice cream and gelato, breads, and plenty of other Japanese dishes I don't know as well.
