It’s a long way from central Niigata, so if you’re coming to see the city, the location isn’t ideal, even if the price seems about right. I also noticed the owner offers guests a 1000 yen incentive for posting full-star reviews, which goes against Airbnb policy, so some of those reviews may deserve a pinch of salt. Service was terrible from check-in through interactions with the cleaning staff and check-out, and it ruined the stay. Registration was convoluted, took over fifteen minutes, and the English was poor enough that I entered the wrong information, mail address instead of email address. When I raised problems, the host had a habit of gaslighting me. There weren’t proper hand towels for drying hands or dishes. I let the dishes air dry rather than put them back wet, but the cleaner insisted I return them to the cupboard and suggested I pay for a towel to dry them, which is ridiculous. The toilets need proper soap and towels too. I had to touch several surfaces between the toilet and the sink in the nearby laundry room, and toilet paper falls apart when used to dry your hands. They should also put down protective carpeting because the floor scratches easily. At the same time, carrying a heavy suitcase from the entrance up to the second floor is impractical.

The rooms were clean, and it was quiet. Check-in and check-out were safe and easy, and the place felt cozy.

There are plenty of toilets, showers, washing machines, and sinks, so I never had to deal with crowding or stress. The shared toilets and bathrooms were kept incredibly clean, just like the guest rooms and the rest of the building. The self-check-in was easy because the instructions came in advance and were detailed and clear. If you’re used to dorm-style accommodation, you should feel comfortable here. The living room has a microwave, toaster oven, electric kettle, and other things that make simple cooking and meals convenient. Wi-Fi was very good, and I had no problems with it. There are also supermarkets and tasty, reasonably priced restaurants nearby, which makes the location handy. I was very happy with the cleanliness, facilities, and location, and would gladly stay again.
