It felt like home after a short, enjoyable stay. The sulfur hot spring and cozy atmosphere were lovely, and the hospitality was exemplary. When I couldn’t get a taxi at checkout, the hotel made sure I could still get to the station for my train. At the restaurant, the food was very nice and the service was excellent, even though my Japanese is very poor. My Japanese room was comfortable in every way, with a soft, fluffy bed. Tea and coffee were available in the lobby in the morning. The location is excellent too, right beside the Tsukioka Onsen footbath and around the corner from sweets, souvenir, and sake shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The food service manager, Rota Shimada, will impress you with his creations. You might even be tempted to stay longer just to enjoy more. It’s a fine place, with friendly, attentive staff.

The food was luxurious, especially the delicious crab and marbled beef shabu-shabu. I was very satisfied with my stay. I had a room with an open-air bath, and the natural hot spring had a strong sulfur smell that left my skin feeling glowing. The large public bath was spacious, and I liked the original blend tea so much I had four bowls of the crunchy plums.
