6/10
The staff were friendly and helpful. They came along to show us where to park the bicycles and where the washing machine was. The room was large for Japan, around 30 square meters, and clean, as was the bathroom. It was a smoking room, an option you can’t find everywhere. Breakfast was included, and the onsen had a generous access schedule. The building clearly feels dated, though, and for this location and what it offers, I thought the price was too high.

There are plenty of restaurants and a convenience store nearby, though the hotel is a long way from the railway station. The rooms are standard and the food is good. Route Inn tends to have good budget packages with breakfast included.

It’s an economical stay, assuming you prefer that word to “cheap.” The hotel has all the amenities a serious traveler or a backpacker might need, and it’s within walking distance of Niihama Station, so getting there on time shouldn’t be a worry.

The water pressure was good. Route Inn is a reliable chain, though I wouldn’t pay extra for the breakfast.

Conveniently located very close to restaurants, including an Indian restaurant.
