They were thoughtful when I arrived late: I called ahead and they prepared a boxed dinner for me. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of variety. Montbell members can get a free 500 ml bottle of water by showing their membership card. This hotel is handy for hiking Mt. Chokai, about a 30-minute drive from Hokotate Parking Lot. Max Value and Yakodo nearby make shopping easy. There is parking in front and across the street, with room for about 20 cars, including buses. The renovated interior made for a comfortable stay. My room had a bed but no other bed setup, and it was clean and well equipped with amenities. The hotel has natural and artificial hot springs, and the men's and women's baths switch depending on the time of day. The washing machine and dryer in the changing room are free, and detergent is provided. Overall, a good place with lots of considerate touches for guests.

The meals were easy to enjoy and tasty, at both breakfast and dinner, and the staff were cheerful and friendly. My renovated room was clean and comfortable, with drip coffee waiting in it. It was well worth the price, and I'd be happy to stay again. Thanks very much.

I was able to use the public bath by myself, which was comfortable, but it's small enough that four or five people could make it crowded. Breakfast was fine, and you can get more rice and miso soup. There's a 100-yen shop next door if you've forgotten something, though it shuts at 7 pm. I came alone but booked a twin for three nights because that was what was available. Cleanliness was absolutely fine. You pick up amenities yourself in the first-floor lobby, and there were also cosmetic slates, which were fine too. The room was a bit cramped. The table was small and there wasn't much room for luggage. The unit bath was tight, making both the toilet and bathtub awkward to use. There's a public bath, so that may not bother everyone, but I showered in the room in the mornings and noticed it. A foldable luggage rack would be useful.
