Moiwa Lodge

Moiwa Lodge has that rare mix of cozy mountain comfort and ski culture. The natural wood, soft lighting and inviting shared spaces made it feel like home, and the après scene brought strangers together as ski buddies. I stayed in the dorm, where the solid, well-designed bunks were comfortable and quiet, with no wobbling or creaking. After long days out, I slept well. The staff were genuinely kind and knew the mountain inside out. They helped with logistics, shared fresh snow information and checked that I was recovered and ready to ride again. From the moment I walked in, the lodge felt like a legendary place built by skiers for skiers. Moiwa's uncrowded terrain is just steps away, and Niseko is easy to reach, while the lodge still feels tucked off the beaten path. For a Hokkaido powder trip with community and good memories, this is the place.

We had a twin room with a mountain view, and it was cozy and lovely. The toilets and showers are shared, but I never had to wait. Staff were awesome and helpful, and Dirk and Erin were wonderful hosts. This was the best value and best-vibes ski accommodation we had in Japan, and we can't recommend it enough. We'll be back. Breakfast at the lodge was filling and delicious every day. Dinner choices are a little limited without a car, but the lodge dinner and bar dinners were both great and well priced. Just down the road, Chairmans Lounge had fantastic Supreme coffee, pies and toasties. We loved skiing at Moiwa and took the free morning shuttle to Annapuri for access to the Niseko United ski fields.

With cozy rooms, helpful staff and a great vibe, this is an awesome lodge. Moiwa has some of the area's best terrain, and touring spots are close by, so it's an ideal base.

Moiwa Lodge is tucked away and really chill. We had a cozy stay in a private room with its own toilet and sink. The communal showers are individual stalls, and I loved the bar, especially the udon noodles and fried fish cakes. It's mostly English-speaking, and people are friendly. Getting around without a car is hard, so dining choices are limited. The ski slopes have only a few runs, but it feels like you have them to yourself.
