Months after staying at Moku no sho, I still miss the experience, even while staying at another resort in a different country. I wanted to thank the staff. The atmosphere was peaceful and calming, and guests were respectful, so noise wasn't a problem. Having a private onsen bath in our room was a real treat, especially in winter with the magnificent snowy scenery. There were some hard water marks in the shower and sink, but I didn't mind, as this is an onsen-focused hotel and I expected that to some extent. I also had a facial, the best I've ever experienced, with no exaggeration. It was all skill, no machines. I can't remember her name, but I appreciated that nobody tried to sell me products. I could just relax and enjoy the treatment without a sales pitch. When I return to Hokkaido for skiing, I'll try to visit and rest here again.

We came for our honeymoon and got the special, memorable stay we were hoping for. The staff were amazing, and the outdoor bath was a real treat, the main reason we booked here. My only suggestion is to have some softer or thinner pillows. The firm ones made my neck a bit sore, so I ended up using the outdoor bath again 😂 Thanks, everyone!

Our host was there throughout the stay and was so awesome. The place feels upscale, from the dining to the accommodation, and the rooms are big. I'd suggest booking one with a private onsen. The public onsen is beautiful too and wasn't crowded. They rent women's yukatas, and in the evening there are free self-serve drinks and marshmallows. I plan to come back whenever I'm in the area.

The room was good and the place itself was okay, but service depended on who was attending us. In our view, the food was the worst part, especially overall on the first night. We paid an extra 8.800 for a PREMIUM menu, and the main was grilled salmon, which was served again at breakfast the next day. After we complained, the second night's food improved and they served boiled hairy crab, but the sashimi pieces were poor. Instead of sea urchin, ikura, king crab, or another exclusive fish, they served pickled mackerel or trout. We'd been traveling for a month and staying at different ryokans, and this was the worst food of all of them for us. The chef's dishes felt like they had no soul. We also paid 10k yen for late checkout, but were asked to come downstairs and pay an hour early. Lights and shadows.

We didn't stay overnight, just had the day spa and dinner. The onsen and lounge were excellent, and dinner made with summer ingredients was delicious. I look forward to staying here on our next visit to the area.
