Niseko Northern Resort An'nupuri

The staff were friendly, professional and helpful throughout, and the hotel made skiing feel convenient and well organized. It’s right by the slopes, with comfortable, clean rooms, a good breakfast and plenty of food options. One thing to be aware of is Annupuri can be closed often, so the location works well at times and can feel far from everything at others.

The rental shop was the disappointing part of our stay. I’m a beginner and said so when renting snowboard gear. After taking a private lesson on my first day, my toes went numb because the boots were cutting off circulation. I went back to try different sizes or styles, but after two exchanges they told me I couldn’t swap them again. I felt they should have helped me work out what fit was right instead of leaving me to figure it out alone. I can see that repeated exchanges take their time, and this might not be anyone’s fault. I wasn’t trying to waste their time, though, and as a beginner I didn’t know what boots I needed. The resort itself was nice. We paid about $640 per night for two people, with breakfast included. The room was nice, reception staff were helpful, and the breakfast food was great.

You can ski straight from the hotel onto the slopes, which made the location amazing. The room was cozy, modern and clean, and both the service and buffet were great. I’d highly recommend it. Here are some photos I took at the hotel:

Breakfast is included in the price and was a great buffet. The resort has a lovely rustic feel, with a traditional onsen, sauna and cold plunge. There’s coin laundry too, and the front desk can change money for the 100 yen coins you need.
