Oyado Kiyomizuya

We enjoyed our stay a lot. Onsen mud had settled at the bottom of the pools, and we scooped some up for face masks while sitting in the water. Web info says onsen mud is rich in minerals and good for skin. The onsen itself is old style but well kept. Yukata are encouraged around the hotel and for the bath. There’s one outdoor pool, and men and women switch sides twice a day, so I had to double-check each time that I was going into the right side. Haha. The hotel gives you a taste of Japanese living. We took off our outdoor shoes and stored them, then changed into indoor slippers as soon as we entered, before even reaching the check-in counter. The staff were very attentive and made sure we had a good experience. Our room had both Western-style beds and Japanese-style tatami. When we said we wanted to use the tatami room, staff made the bed after dinner, then put away the bedding before breakfast the next morning, just like daily Japanese life.

A quiet, peaceful place to stay with welcoming, friendly staff. It’s traditional and good value for money, close to the foot onsen and bath area. There’s also an onsen inside the hotel.

The room-service breakfast was our favorite part. Each morning was a feast, and the service was lovely and kind. The hotel also makes for a great retro stay: everything looks and feels like it’s from the 1980s, yet it’s very well maintained. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and helpful.

The outdoor bath was fantastic, and the whole experience was unbelievable, beyond perfect. We paid 48,000Yen, including two beautiful meals. If you want meals included, please book through their website.
