Kadowakikan

The owner is a total legend, and the rooms were tidy with really comfortable futons. It’s a fantastic location, just a short walk from the chair lift and equipment rentals.

The host was really accommodating, and the bed and pillow were comfortable. It’s on the edge of town with easy transport options, but restaurants are walkable, some just a minute away. The town center is less than a ten-minute walk.

I used the on-property onsen every day. It’s well maintained, and there were never more than two people in it. The ski gear storage was useful too, with a room for warming wet clothes and boots. The shared bathrooms were never crowded. Kadowakikan partners with Kawatatsu ski rentals, the cheapest shop in town. Their gear isn’t premium or customized, but it’s fine for most skiers, and the shop conveniently delivers and picks it up from the hotel. I had a pleasant stay. The owner kindly went out of his way to collect me from the bus stop and arrange a discounted ski lift ticket. He offered me a ride to the bus stop when I checked out, but I didn’t need one.

The owner was incredibly kind and organized my whole stay, from gear rental and lift pass to rides to and from the bus. He answered all my questions quickly and went out of his way to help. Thank you! The cozy room had a comfy tatami mat and nice seats with a view, and felt really traditional. The shared bath was clean and never crowded. Having a private in-hotel onsen to use after long days of skiing was such a treat, and robes and towels were included for the traditional experience. It’s an easy walk into town to explore and get a good meal. Couldn’t ask for anything more, 10/10 recommend!
