Espacio Nagoya Castle

We paid to stay there, but the staff made us feel unwelcome in Nagoya. When we checked in, they wouldn’t even serve us a cup of water. After one day, our cards stopped working, so we couldn’t get into the room. We asked for new cards and got no help. Instead, they opened the room with a master key. At breakfast, we could only choose American or Japanese. We ordered American breakfast at 9:30, but it still hadn’t arrived by 10. Then they warned us they would charge us if we came after 10. The staff didn’t seem professional, and acted as if the hotel belonged to one of them. It was a very bad experience, and we won’t stay there again. But we can understand them, it’s only a 4-star hotel 😒

I recommend the seasonal Teppanyaki menu. The techniques were impressive and the wine pairings were great. The Teppanyaki and afternoon tea were both unusually good and delicious. Matsumoto San, the FB manager, and the teppanyaki head chef gave splendid service. The grand wine menu is the largest I’ve seen in all of Japan.

The castle-view rooms are worth paying extra for, and the hotel is close to the city and plenty of shops. Mr. Soda, the general manager, is very hospitable, and the chefs, spa team, and other staff are second to none. They make you feel special and respected. Fuka-san at the spa is amazing, and speaks very good English.

So quiet, with lots of space and a great view. A really unique place, even beyond Nagoya.
