Lodge Marushige

I was lucky to catch dinner at Lodge Marushige on January 4, 2026, during my first day at Nozawa Onsen ski resort. They only serve dinner Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The staff were friendly and the service was good. We had sabu sabu with lots of sides, including fish and sashimi, and the pudding was really good.

The breakfast and dinner were both delicious, and the hospitality was top notch during my January stay at Nozawa. Thanks to Seiko San and family.

The dinner was excellent and great value, definitely worth trying. The room was clean and practical, and seemed to have been upgraded recently, although the heater was a little noisy at night. The owner was helpful and welcoming. It’s about five minutes from Oyu street and eight from the Chou terminal. Getting to the gondola involves a bit of an uphill climb, so it depends which route suits you. I hope to visit again next season.

We really enjoyed our winter stay here. It’s a family run business, and the care they put into the details stood out. The room, lounge, towels, and bed were all super clean. The location worked well, between the gondolas and the main parts of the village, with the bus stop just a five-minute walk away. Don’t let the shared bathroom put you off. You can book a 50-minute timeslot, it’s exceptionally clean, and the bath, a private onsen of sorts, is something to look forward to after a day on the mountain. Breakfast was included and became one of the highlights of our time in Nozawa Onsen. My partner and I were fortunate to get a booking here, and we’d certainly stay again if we return.
