Family Lodge Hatagoya Numata

We don't mind paying for our dog as an extra guest, but the way we were treated was unpleasant. Our dog is well trained and behaved. The founder of Hatagoya started the business in Japan about 30 years ago after modeling it on motels in the States, believing family dogs are part of the family and can stay with us. Managers at each Hatagoya branch should learn and follow that spirit. Meanwhile, groups of people were noisy and played loud music at midnight. They should be charged extra.

The hotel was clean, spacious, and reasonably priced. There's free Wi-Fi and late checkout, though no English support.

Cheap.

I had this place on my list because of the location, handy for all the ski resorts, and it turned out to be warm and quiet. I expected Numata to feel cold, but the heated floors kept it comfortable, and the bed was warm enough through the night. Payment is at check-in, and the price is cheap. There's plenty that's useful: separate bath and toilet, hangers, towels, hot water, a microwave, and coffee. Bread and a toaster are free from 7am. Parking right outside makes loading and unloading simple. There's a coin laundry and a Family Mart within walking distance. My favorite ramen is right there too, and the seafood tomato ramen is so good! It's close enough to walk, so I can have a drink. In winter the windshield froze, as you'd expect in Numata, so de-icing spray could come in handy. The rest is up to you!
