The inn is very reasonably priced, and the hot bath is big enough for the whole family. It's only two minutes from the station. The owner is kind and speaks some English, and we had great service and traditional food.

I'd like to come back. I was very satisfied, though I can see it depends on what matters to each person. It was cheap, close to the station, had delicious food and the basic things I needed, and there's a cat. I only had breakfast, served from a rice cooker. Even the small portions were tasty. The sliding doors had some stains, but the futon was clean. The bathroom and washroom have been renovated, and although it was still hot, I could keep the air conditioning on all day. A few people have mentioned that it's hard to secure valuables. The rooms don't lock and there isn't a safe. One Google review also says guests should avoid watching TV after 9 p.m. or bathing after 10 p.m. That may have changed. It wasn't crowded during my stay, and nobody said anything.

The meals were simple rather than fancy, but generous, and the local ingredients were used so well. Everything was delicious, and I went back for more rice at both breakfast and dinner. This old-fashioned inn is right in front of the station in a provincial city. It's a little dated, but clean and well kept, so I had no complaints. Just be aware that the rooms have no locks and are separated from the hall by sliding doors or screens. If you're used to modern business hotels, it may not suit you. The bath locks, so you can have it to yourself. The boiler goes off at 10 p.m., though, which means no bath after dinner or in the morning.

The grandmother's cooking was a highlight. Both dinner and breakfast were beautifully made with seasonal ingredients, some of the best meals I had on my trip. I booked by email and would happily return if I get the chance. The accommodation is close to Nyuzen Station, in an old Japanese-style house. The rooms may feel a little tighter than a hotel, but that's part of the charm. There's a convenience store about a 20-minute walk away, and the neighborhood is a must-visit for travelers.

We came to look for jade and stayed overnight. We didn't use the bath because we went to the nearby Namekawa Civic Communication Plaza I Love Yu instead. My friends and I are already talking about staying here again next time we go jade hunting. The place has the feel of the Meiji, Taisho, and early Showa periods, and fits in nicely with the town. The food was so good I still remember it. The seasoning brought out the ingredients beautifully, and the cooking left a real impression.
