I picked a classic Japanese-style room because I wanted that traditional ryokan feel, and it turned out to be exactly the right choice. Wearing a yukata around the hotel was a memorable little part of the experience. The staff were helpful and attentive, and they set out the futon in the evening. I thought I might get cold, but the down comforter kept me cozy all night. There are indoor and outdoor onsen baths, and the outdoor view made the soak especially relaxing. The meals were delicious and plentiful at every course. There are lots of room types in this large property, and for me the stay felt well worth the price. I'd recommend it to anyone after a peaceful Japanese-style stay.

We booked a Japanese-style room, where meals and turndown service were arranged around our schedule. I enjoyed both outdoor baths and the kids' pool, and the hotel is close to the bus terminal. Staff from abroad make it easy to get by in English. Just know it's a hotel and ryokan mix, not a fully traditional ryokan.

We were a family of five adults and one child. The room they gave us was fairly spacious and had its own bath and toilet. We got welcome drinks and some snacks, and the place seemed quiet. There are separate public onsens for men and women, but no private bath.

The ryokan has Japanese-style rooms, and it was close to Yufuin station. The reception staff spoke a little English, but communication went well. The onsen was nice, both indoors and outdoors.

The Japanese-Western room had plenty of space and a full set of amenities, though some of the furniture looked a little old and dirty from the hotel's age. Meals were a highlight, with lots of different foods to try and almost everything delicious. The location is handy, about 300 m from Yufuin station, and you can walk to Lake Kinrin too. Staff can call a taxi, and they'll store your luggage before check-in or after checkout.
