Hotel Abest Grande Okayama

My capsule room was really nice, with lots of room to put or hang my things and even a TV. It felt safe, though it could get noisy late at night. The public bath closes at 1am, and people coming back to their beds after the onsen sometimes made noise drying their hair and such. I still got an okay night's sleep. The hotel is only a few minutes' walk from Okayama station, with lots of places to eat nearby. I had a lovely breakfast at the bookstore close by. The place is modern, nicely styled, and very clean. Staff were exceptionally attentive: they gave out candy in the elevator each morning, offered a free bar drink every evening, and came out to bow as I walked to my room. I’ve never experienced that before. It made me feel like royalty in a 5-star hotel!

The cabin suited me as a cheaper option, and the safe inside was honestly big enough for a lot of my stuff. Just be aware that there’s no door lock, and the top is open to the hallway, so you can hear people moving around. I think there’s some tax reason behind the cabin specifications. They provided earbuds that plug into the wall, presumably to play music, though I didn’t try them. I never felt unsafe, and nobody went into my cabin while I was away. There are regular rooms as well as the discounted cabins, and amenities include a sento, regular showers, and free drinks in the afternoon and evening. The gym had most of what people need, though the dumbbells only go to about 45lbs, so heavier lifters will get just a minimal workout. Good location and friendly staff. I’d give this place serious consideration for a future stay.

The bath area is well worth checking out, and the cabin room was nicely arranged with good privacy. The hotel is well furnished, and the staff are well trained. Nitta Arima was especially friendly and enthusiastic about helping English-speaking guests. I’d definitely stay again next time I come to Okayama.

I was surprised by how spacious the room was, with plenty of space. I’ll stay here again. It’s about a five-minute walk from the station, right above a shopping mall. The staff were incredibly attentive. Whenever I headed toward the elevators, someone would hurry over, press the button, bow, and wish me a nice trip. They also handed out candy. Everyone gets a free welcome drink at the bar, and there was a self-playing piano, which was a nice touch.
