Central Hotel Okayama

The Wi-Fi was very unreliable, at least on the sixth floor, and they do warn you when you arrive that the internet can be unstable. Otherwise, it was easy to find and quiet, close to the train station, shopping centers, and restaurants. Staff spoke English quite well and gave instructions in English at check-in. There are vending machines, laundry, massages, and a restaurant. They lock the door at 1 am.

The people working for Central Hotel were friendly, and both the hotel and room were clean. The location is good. Still, the room felt too small, even by Japanese standards. At 1.8m tall, I couldn't fit comfortably, though I hope they have larger rooms than mine. Everything seemed old and in need of refurbishment. The air conditioning blows straight at your head when you're in bed, and opening the window means the light comes in because it hits the darkener. The fridge was so noisy that it disturbed my sleep.

The bathroom lights are old and stay dim for a few minutes after you switch them on. The room itself smelled strongly of smoke, like an ashtray.

The breakfast was really good and inexpensive, and the service was good too. Our room was clean and very spacious, and there were lots of restaurants nearby. I had a very good time during our two-night stay.
