Hiyagun Lanai Resort Okinawa

The hillside neighborhood made walking to grocery stores or down to Aeon Mall a challenge, but Rycom Family Resort worked well as a central base for exploring the island. I spent 11 nights there, and for me, it was mostly great. The staff were consistently lovely and patient with my frequent visits. The building is a bit older, though the facilities are up to date. My room was huge, with three beds, a phone, and a good-sized TV, and the towels were replaced every day. There’s quite a climb: the 100 level is over 20 meters below the front desk on the 5th floor, with stairs all the way. The bed was very firm. That hadn’t bothered me before my hip injury, but it took me a week to find a cushion that let me sleep well.

Best hotel in Okinawa. The room was new, huge, and comfortable, and the staff were lovely. There’s space in the lobby for kids, a children’s playroom, parking, and delicious welcome drinks.

The room wasn’t really to my taste, though it was exactly as described online, and I wish I could lock its door. The location is beautiful, with some nice photo spots at the top of the hill. I stayed in a family twin room for three weeks. I’m single, but this is especially well set up for children, with lots of play areas and baby and kids’ items for sale without having to leave the hotel. What won me over was the staff. The front desk people were so kind, and even called when I overslept to make sure I got my meal. Housekeeping came regularly, breakfast was amazing and easy to grab on my way to work, and the morning drinks were refreshing. The women preparing the food were super friendly too. I’d come back for that front desk team and those lovely ladies in the back.

They’ve made this a really family-friendly place, with playrooms full of toys and equipment for children of all ages. A wonderful spot to stay with kids.
