Hotel Uneri

The inn is tucked away somewhere quiet, with little around it. The food was delicious, and all the staff were very friendly. The building and rooms aren't fancy, but everything seemed clean and thoughtfully kept. Nothing especially stood out as amazing, yet I came away with a good impression. The large public bath isn't all that large, and it isn't a hot spring. Still, the water had a lovely natural smell, perhaps from the wood ceiling, and I enjoyed a bath in the morning too. There's actually a waterfall just a few minutes away on foot, and I could get quite close to it. I'd stay here again if I get the chance to return to Oki.

The hotel is a two-story building with 12 rooms. My renovated room was non-smoking, clean and comfortable, with well-equipped facilities, including toilet seat cleaner. Dinner was part of the two-meal plan, which cost about 10,000 yen a night. The sashimi was delicious and the turban shells were excellent too. There's a quiet cove just in front, nice for an early walk. If you've rented a car, I'd recommend it, especially with the large public bath available.

We stayed on November 23, 2024, in the off-season and had a peaceful, relaxing time. The evening and morning meals were both delicious, with the island's Oki soba especially good. From the men's public bath, the ocean view was quite nice. Our room faced the mountains, where all we could see was a grove of trees, so I didn't take any photos of the view or the room. In summer, I imagine Maehama Beach would be a great spot to play among the rocks, so the location seems good for that season.

The dinner beer and glasses were incredibly delicious, and the meal even included a turban shell. The food was excellent, with extra-large rice servings and unlimited refills. I booked the business plan with breakfast and dinner for 8,800 yen including tax. The large public bath was empty, so we had it to ourselves. It's smaller than you might expect but easily enough, probably for 5-8 people. Flushing the toilet could probably be heard by neighbors, but it didn't bother me. The vending machines were out of service due to COVID-19, though I think they'll be running again soon. Behind the hotel there's a waterfall and some goats, and the parking lot is spacious. In summer, the sea is easy to get to. I recommend it.
