Hotel New Omi

I stayed here for a work trip. The room had enough space and the basic amenities I needed, and the hotel is close to the train station.

The rooms are clean and fairly large, with friendly service. It’s an old but classy hotel, even down to the traditional keys. I had two issues: the shower pressure could be stronger, and the air conditioning only blew warm air and couldn’t be adjusted in the room. That was tough during an autumn that was warmer than usual. I’m not sure how people manage it in summer.

Breakfast was average, though the 9th-floor views were great. The hotel is aging, and the carpets were dirty. My room faced a huge parking building right in front of the window. The hotel looked nearly empty, so I couldn’t see why guests would be put in that room. The service felt amateurish for a hotel with this few stars. Staff at the front desk seemed to be daydreaming and unsure what they were doing; someone more experienced there would make sense. If you do book, ask for a higher-floor room facing west. There unfortunately aren’t many higher-end options in Omi, but it may be worth driving somewhere else for more choices.

A bit old-style, but the room was decent and the service was good. The location is superb, about a five-minute walk from the station, and I felt it was worth staying here.
