HOTEL R9 The Yard Omitama

Getting to Kasama Azalea Festival 🌺 early the next morning was easy, since Hatori Station's east exit is a straight six-minute walk away. I stayed here the night before, on 2026/04/25. The room was spotless and had no cigarette smell or other odd odors on the towels, sheets, or anywhere else. The man at the front desk was polite, friendly, and helpful, always smiling. There were bath towels, regular towels, shampoo, conditioner, body soap, and a hairdryer in the room. Smaller items like pajamas and toothbrushes are available from the desk. You can choose from about five frozen light snacks, and drinks are free. My pick was mapo eggplant. Having a microwave, refrigerator, and freezer in the room was really useful. Coffee and tea are available during the front desk's hours, and the big mirror was handy for putting on makeup. I'll stay here again. There are no shops nearby, and nobody seems to be walking around at night.

The room is basic, and while families with kids should be fine, it could feel pretty small for three people. I liked the tucked-away hideout feel. It's a pretty average hotel, nothing especially good or bad. Container hotels seem common these days. I picked this one because it was cheaper than the one in Ishioka, and it seems to have opened recently. There's only one person working at the front desk, and the explanations take time, so check-in could run long. You enter your details beforehand and use a QR code to check in. A PIN appears then, which you enter to get into the room. They give you a small frozen snack.

We went to Oshokujidokoro Shiro, a great little place just a two-minute walk away, for inexpensive food and drinks. It made the stay at R9 worthwhile, and it's an easy walk after check-in. I stayed here for the Motegi MotoGP. It was a long way off, but cheap. The room was spacious and quiet, which I liked. The toilet was small, though, and the bidet pressure was extremely weak. Are all R9 hotels like this? Even for a unit bath, I think they should rethink it. Update, October 3rd: Two days after my stay at R9 Omitama, I stayed at R9 Mooka Aramachi. Its unit bath was TOTO rather than INAX, and the bidet pressure was fine. They should standardize on TOTO! (lol)

The room was clean overall, and the shower was good. But during the container stay I'd been looking forward to, I could hear cars opening and closing their doors in the parking lot even with everything shut. I kept sneezing whenever I switched on the air conditioner, and the microwave was broken. The staff made inappropriate comments at check-in. That's why I rated it this way.
